Battle Training

Sunpaw raced out of the camp entrance and into the trees. He jumped over some thick roots and kept running until he found a sandy clearing, knowing that his mentor would follow him. He leapt into an oak tree that had a few low branches and thick cover. He crouched in wait for his mentor, peering through a small gap in the leaves. The wind was in his favour as he got ready for his suprise attack.

Riverbreeze followed more slowly, his pelt glinting in the sun. He could easily follow Sunpaw's scent; it was excited and fresh.

The muscular warrior padded calmly forwards until he reached a sandy clearing. The wind was blowing opposite; he couldn't scent him anymore. And he couldn't see him either. Tensing his muscles, he braced himself for an attack. Sunpaw's pretty smart. He mused, a smile creeping onto his face.

Badgerclaw found himself in the clearing, "Hey guys." he mewed. "I wonder where Scarletpaw is." he mumbled, figuring this would be great for his new apprentice.

Without a sound, Sunpaw jumped from the oak, landing on Riverbreeze's back. "I haven't seen Scarletpaw," meowed Sunpaw quickly before Riverbreeze retaliated.

Before Sunpaw could reach his mentor, Riverbreeze rolled out of the way and was back on his paws in an instant, giving Sunpaw a blow that didn't hurt, but knocked him off his paws. "Faster, next time. But very good start." He meowed with a glance at his apprentice. "Try it again. Oh, and if you find Scarletpaw, you'd be more than welcome to train with us." He added to Badgerclaw.

Sunpaw scampered back into the tree. When he got into the tree's thick shelter though, he crept along an extending branch into another tree, staying out of sight the whole time. The wind wasn't betraying his scent as he crouched in a branch around three cat-lengths away from the branch he had made his first leap from. He would most likely take Riverbreeze by suprise.

Riverbreeze watched steadily as Sunpaw scurried into the tree to prepare to make his second move. "Whenever you're ready now." The warrior meowed.

Sunpaw was a quick learner, and had good common sense for a cat with such little experience. But he lacked speed and timing. Give him a moon or so, he'll be much better then. Riverbreeze thought, shrugging his worries off like he was flicking a raindrop off his pelt.

Sunpaw sprang from the tree like an owl for a mouse, this time not aming to land on Riverbreeze's back but to cannon into his side, unbalancing him, so that Sunpaw could add in a few swipes with his seathed paws.

The golden-white tom whipped around, prepared. He realized two heartbeats before the ginger apprentice reached him that he was already using a different tactic. He swerved to the side, a tad too late, as Sunpaw bowled into his shoulder. He crouched down and lunged at the apprentice quickly with wide movements and had him pinned. "Good idea, but try not to take too long preparing for an attack. If I were a warrior from another Clan, you would've been clawed before you could say 'mouse'."

OOC: Isn't saying that you pinned sunpaw power playing?

"Okay," meowed Sunpaw, getting up and shaking scraps of sand from his fur. Faster than you could say 'mouse', Sunpaw lunged at Riverbreeze, front paws outstretched to help him push his mentor over.

OOC: Isn't saying that you landed on Riverbreeze's back power playing?

IC: His eyes gleamed as Sunpaw leapt at him, taking no longer than a heartbeat to recover and leap for his mentor. This time, the golden apprentice managed to hit his target, and Riverbreeze rolled over on the sandy floor, pushed over by the younger tom. Getting back to his paws, he smiled at him. "Good job, Sunpaw!" He praised.

OOC: neva mind XD

Sunpaw's eyes glittered with his praise. "What moves should we practise today?" questioned Sunpaw.

OOC: I'll post when I get my muse back. XD And okay.

OOC: *waits for muse to return...*

Scarletpaw magically teleported from WINDCLAN, her clan, to THUNDERCLAN, not her clan, and clawed at Sunpaw before teleporting back.

Riverbreeze nodded to Sunpaw. "I'll teach you the leap-and-hold move. Since you're fairly small, it'll be a good move for you to learn. I'm a bit too big for this sort of move, but if you listen closely, you should be able to do it properly.

"So, you leap onto your opponent's back with your claws unsheathed. Hence, the leap-and-hold. You do know how to do that, right?" He teased. "Now tell me the advantages and disadvantages of this move, using your common sense." He mewed. "That'll be important to know if you ever try it."

ooc: *forgets that this is tc* xd

"Well, the advantages are that, as I am smaller, I can stay on the cat's back. The disadvantage is that the bigger cat could roll over and crush me." Sunpaw answered obediently.

"Good." The tabby nodded his broad head in approval. "But another advantage is that you are now out of the other cat's reach and are in position to deliver strong blows and good scratches that they won't be forgetting for a long, long time." He mewed. "Now, let's practice this move. Pretend I'm an invader from another Clan." He faced his apprentice.

"Okay." Sunpaw faced his mentor. He spied a tree that was right next to Riverbreeze, so he decided he would use his surroundings to his advantage. He ran head on towards his mentor, but at the last minute he leapt at the tree. He then leapt off the tree a heartbeat later, using the tree to help him hopefully land on Riverbreeze's back, claws seathed.

Riverbreeze nodded. "Now deliver a few blows with claws sheathed while I try to knock you off!" He meowed quickly, swerving sharply to the side to try to unbalance the golden apprentice.

Sunpaw used his back paws to balance while he swiped a bit at his mentor. He quickly made a back up plan in case Riverbreeze rolled over onto his back, which would crush Sunpaw.

Riverbreeze quickly rolled onto his back, aiming to 'crush' Sunpaw.

Sunpaw loosened his grip and pounced back onto the tree he had originally started jumping from.

Riverbreeze got up, shaking bits of sand from his pelt. "Good. But if you were attacking on WindClan territory, you wouldn't have trees, would you? Sunpaw, you're aiming to jump on my back from the ground. Use the muscles in your hind legs." He mewed, bunching up his muscles quickly and making a high leap. "Like that. But that was excellent for a first try!"
