Hunting for kits.

Swiftpaw scented the air. "I can smell... faint twoleg scent and.. I think I can smell a vole." she finished.

Owlflight was suprised at her answer. He didn't expect her to smell the twoleg scent. "Let me show you how to hunt land prey," he offered, padding over to the vole on silent paws. He walked around so that he was in the right position with the wind and he waited for the right moment. As it was scrabbling amoungst the leaves, he pounced without a sound, coming down on it like and owl, hence his name. He carried it back to the others, no emotion in his face.

"Good catch Owlfight.", Silvershine mewed. "Have you seen how Owlflight had positioned himself? He did this so the wind was against him so the vole wouldn't smell him." Silvershine shook herself. She was still wet from her swiming-trip through the river.

Pebblepaw watched closely as Owlflight caught the vole. Wow, these warriors are all such good hunters! Pebblepaw thought, wishing he could be like that one day.

Swiftpaw admired Owlflight's kill. Wow... she thought, picturing herself doing the exact same thing one day. "I want to try catch a fish!" she exclaimed, running over to the river. She paused and turned around. "Can I?" she asked her mentor.

Silvershine looked at the other warriors and sighed. "I'm already wet, I'll go with her.", she mewed. "Pebblepaw, join us, too!" Then she swum across the river again and waited for the apprentices to do the same.

ooc: Fish hunting is so much fun!

ooc: My charrie doesn't even know how!

Cherrydapple gave her permission. "Sure, just don't fall in, and behave yourself with Silvershine. I'll see you all back at camp. I'm off hunting, then I'm going back to camp.

ooc: Where is it again? Is it Kit people's return, or something like that?

"Ok," Pebblepaw whispered shakily, worried about getting in the water. He cautiously stepped towards the water's edge, and dipped his paw in. The water was cold and uncomfortable, but Pebblepaw stepped in anyways. He flinched as he slipped all four of his legs in, and he was shivering by the time the water was up to his belly fur. But he kept padding on, trying to catch up to Silvershine. Soon, the water was up his neck, and he was having some trouble staying afloat.

Once his feet no longer touched the water, Pebblepaw panicked, and thrashed his legs around in the water. "Help!" Pebblepaw screeched before going underwater. But instead of going deeper into the water, Pebblepaw's head soon appeared above water. It turned out that by thrashing his legs, he was actually swimming. Once he realized this, Pebblepaw made his random thrashes more even, so they were more like violent strokes instead of trashes. He was swimming very poorly, but he was still swimming, and once his paws could touch the bottom of the river again, Pebblepaw heaved a heavy sigh of relief.

He waded out of the water, shivering with a mix of fear and cold. He hung his head in shame, he knew he did a horrible job at swimming, and he probably scared the fish away.

OOC: Is that acurate? The river is deep enough so that Pebblepaw's paws wouldn't touch the bottom of the lake at one point, right?

Swiftpaw followed Pebblepaw. Swimming looks fun! she thought, curious about the water. She slowly got in. Remembering what Silvershine had done, she tried to 'run' in the water. Suprisingly, it worked, even if it wasn't perfect. Soon she was out of the water and on the bank on the other side of the river, shaking her fur from the water, fluffing it up to keep her warm. Okay, swimming is not the best but its not bad... she thought, settling down in a comfortable position and rasing a paw, waiting for a fish.

Silvershine laughed. "Are you really Riverclan?", she mewed. "You know, RIVERclan comes that we are the only ones who don't care to swim in the RIVER. Normally our kind hates the water, but we perfected the art to hunt in it." She helped Pebblepaw and Swiftpaw out of the water. "Nevermind. Swiftpaw you did right, but before we place ourselves, let's walk a bit. With your ... swimming ...", she gave a mreow of laughter again, "you probably shooed away the fishes." She began to walk a bit the shore and stopped like 50 meters from their original position. "Now, sat down, raise a paw and put it a bit above the water. Then stay still and wait until you see a movement under your paw. When you see it crosses your paw more often its probably a fish who thinks your paw is an insect on the water. Catch the fish fast and throw it on the shore to kill it fast. But be aware that the fish will try to get back into the water, so you need to be really fast! Lets try it.", she mewed and positioned herself in the middle of the apprentices to watch them both. "Fish can't hear, but they can see, so we don't have to be quiet, but need to stand still."

"Okay," replied Swiftpaw, trying to remember all the info Silvershine had given her. She raised her paw to the distance Silvershine had shown her and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, though, she saw a flash of sliver, flickering back and forth. She waited a few more moments and then, she striked. Her paw was a bit slow from the sudden change of temperature, but none the less she hooked her claw into the fishes' tail. She quickly lifted it onto the bank and killed it. She beamed with pride at her first catch. She hoped her mentor had seen her acomplishment.

Silvershine smiled. "Good, very good! That was excelent.", she meowed approvingly. "Please sat back so Pebblepaw can take his time."

Pebblepaw scooted closer to the bank, positioning his paw just above the water. He waited for a while, but finally, he saw a small silver shape swim underneath his paw. He shot his paw in the water, claws unsheathed, and tried to catch the fish. He was able to claw the fish out of the water, but it flipped and flopped towards the water. Scared that he would lose this catch too, Pebblepaw quickly shot his head down and grabbed it in his jaws. he bit down hard, killing the fish quickly. He set it down, eyes glowing with excitement and pride at his catch.

"Pebblepaw! Congratulations!", Silvershine mewed loud. "I'm really proud of both of you. This is your first day of training and you just made your first ever catch and it was a fish! You two are really talented. I'm really proud.", Silvershine meowed. "Take your catch and swim across the river again. We're heading home so everyone can see your brilliant catch!" She herself swum across and took her own fish in her jaws and waited for the apprentices to arrive.

"Thank you!" Pebblepaw mewed gratefully. His heart was as light as a feather as he picked up his fish and headed for the bank. But once he saw the cold, dark blue water of the river, his heart froze. Oh, no. Not again! But I suppose I have to... Pebblepaw thought hopelessly, tentatively placing his paws in the water. He waded across the river, preparing his muscles for when his paws no longer touched the bottom of the river. Soon, the river was up to his neck, and he could no longer feel the bottom ground. But Pebblepaw stretched his head high, not wanting to loose his fish, and moved his legs in a churning motion. Luckily, he was doing better now than he did his first time, yet he wasn't swimming with very much skill. Once he reached the opposite bank, he shook himself, trying to shake away water and fear that still clung to him.

Cherrydapple congratulated her apprentice on the bank when they all got back. She was waiting with 4 mice and 2 squirrels.

ooc: Do I actually have to hunt the prey, or can I just do what I've done?

OOC: I dunno

"Thanks," replied Swiftpaw to her praise. She picked up the fish and stepped into the water. You know... the water is actually quite refreshing! she thought, starting to swim. Once she was out she shook her fur to get rid of the water.

"Then lets head home!"

ooc: just pretend you hunted.

ooc: Ok, thanks.

Cherrydapple padded home beside Swiftpaw. "That was an excellent catch," She whispered to her. "You're welcome to keep training, or you can just go back to camp and rest. It sure has been a big day!"

"I want to try hunting land prey!" exclaimed Swiftpaw, wanting to see how she fared.

"Ok. Sure thing," She said, laughing at Swiftpaw's eagerness. "Hey everyone, Swiftpaw and I aren't going back to camp just yet. I'm going to show her a bit about hunting land prey."

"Do that. We'll take your catches as well and bring them back to camp. See you then.", Silvershine mewed and padded away.

"Bye!" mewed Swiftpaw as she watched the group pad away.

"And thanks!" She called over her shoulder, while padding away with Swiftpaw. "Now, do you know the best place to hunt prey?"

"Amoungst trees?" Swiftpaw replied, thinking about where she would be most likely to find land prey.

OOC: im just gonna say that she tried to get something, missed and then padded back to camp.
