Waiting around. . .(OPEN!)

Mintpaw sat in the apprentices den being bored. She wished her mentor would think of something for her to do. Her paws itched to be moving around.

OOC: This is anyone's hint to bring a warrior and make it her mentor.

OOC: Firenose could be her mentor? But i dunno if you want him, he's a good fighter but he's aggressive.

OOC: Don't think it would matter but if your cat has anything against non Clanborn cats then it would most likely turn ugly. . .

OOC: Not if they make good warriors, but if a rogue or a kittypet turned up on Windclan territory he probably would attack them before listening to they're story.

OOC: Well then we don't have a big problem then!

OOC: Alright he can be your mentor then.

Firenose stuck his head into the apprentices den, catching Mintpaws pelt. "Mintpaw, we're gonna go battle training." He mewed, flicking his tail beckoning her to follow him.

Mintpaw scrambled up and shook the scraps of moss out of her pelt. She trotted after him meowing, "Okay!" She felt relieved to have her paws moving and itched to learn something new.

OOC: (Skipping up to when they get there...)

"Alright, attack me. Show me what you know so far." Firenose mewed, getting down into a defensive stance. "If you can win against me by the end of this session, you'll get the first pick of prey tonight."

Mintpaw nodded and thought briefly about the best attepmt to come at her mentor. She faked at Firenose's right shoulder but actually went for his face.

As Mintpaw charged his right shoulder, he dodged left and lunged at her but as he did a paw slapped his face. Shaking his head, he dived down for her legs, attempting to trip her as accurately as he could.

Mintpaw tried to jump up and over Firenose to dodge him tripping her.

OOC: So short! XD

Firenose, stepped back, and nodded. "You have alot of fight in you, but we gotta work on your strategy. If i was really trying to kill you, my size would take hold of you. But your fast." Getting back in his stance, he mewed, "Now see what you can do with speed, not strength."

Mintpaw replied, "Okay." She attempted to barrage Firenose with a couple of quick and well-aimed blows.

Firenose reared back, caught by suprise at her blows. "Thats better, but try tripping me while you do it." He mewed.

Mintpaw tried it again and tried to sweep Firenose's legs from underneath him. To help trip him up she also pushed a little to knock him off balance even more.

Firenose huffed as his paws were swept from under him and he landed on the ground with a thud. Getting up, he mewed, "Alright, lets start doing some formal training." He mewed, sitting down and licking his chest. "Lets start with the badger attack." He went on, "Jump into the air as high as you can, then spin midair right as your about to land on me. When you land, try to nip my leg."

"Okay I'll try," Mintpaw meowed. She took off for a high jump and started spinning. As she spun time seemed to slow and she saw something that could prove vaulable. While she twisted she attempted to quickly strike out at Firenose's head and finished the twist. She aimed to land facing her mentor and to nip--ever so lightly--his back leg.

Firenose blinked in surprise, she added a nice touch to the move. "I didn't expect that, did you come up with that all by yourself?" He mewed.

Mintpaw beamed with praise and replied, "Yeah I just kind of thought of it off the top of my head."

Firenose nodded. "We should get back to the camp, its getting darker. But lets hunt on the way." He mewed, padding tentatively towards the camp. Stopping, he hissed softly, "I smell mouse, over there." Flicking his tail in encouragement, he watched his apprentice.

Mintpaw saw scuttling in the grass where Firenose had pointed and dropped into a crouch. She attempted to stalk close enough to be able to pounce on it.

Firenose nodded, she was in position. If she waited and longer the mouse might see her. His whiskers twitching, he almost called out, "Pounce!"

Mintpaw leaped for the little mouse. It sensed her but it was too late. Mintpaw landed on it, snapping its back, and ending its life. She picked it up and asked around fur, "Did I do good?"

Firenose nodded approval. "Nice catch, alright lets get back to camp." He mewed, padding off towards the camp with a flick of his tail signaling his apprentice to follow.

Mintpaw quickly followed after him, her catch dangling in her jaws. She felt proud because she had shown some of her orginality to her mentor and he had approved.
