The Burial(Open)

Windstorm's body lay out in the WindClan clearing,her legs tucked under her chin,as though she were sleeping. The white fur shone with a glassy sheen from the rain,and her eyes were closed peacefully. She was dead,having died giving birth to her last litter,containing three kits,Coalkit,Scarletkit,and Poppykit.

Braveclaw stood a little distance away from the elderly she-cat's body,his eyes glazed with sadness. "Her kits never even knew their mother,or their father,"he murmured softly,his tail curled loosely around his paws. He remembered when he had trained as an apprentice alongside Windstorm and her mate,Brokensong. Now he was the only one left. "May StarClan light you're path."he said quietly,blinking rapidly to force away the tears.

Firenose padded up to the body of the respected old queen. Dipping his head, he mewed softly, "I may have acted aggressive towards you, but i've always respected you." Padding over to sit next to Braveclaw, he stared at her body.

Braveclaw turned to face Firenose. "How are the other queens taking it?"he asked quietly,an undertone of grief to his voice. He knew that,had Windstorm lived,she would have protected all the kits and queens with her life,if necessary. And then,once her own kits were apprenticed,she would have retired as an elder. Braveclaw sighed,and he could almost see the three of them,running through the forest,as their mentors assessed them. He could almost hear Brokensong's yowl of happiness as he took the life of a shrew,and could imagine Windstorm's look of pride as her first litter of kits were born.
