Rashu's First Strike

The fox was odd, alright. Moons of mixed genes made his fur and size quite different than any fox the Clans had seen. He was almost as big as a year-old wolf, and his fur was a striking red. It was true that he was part wolf, the red wolves in the southwest were his bone kin. The spots that would normally have been white on a fox were black. Due to much amounts of training, the fox was very clever and had the grace of a cat. The quick grace of a trained fox was deadly indeed. Rashu was here only to kill, on Sarataru's orders. He had been ordered to leave a Clan titled DarkClan alone, however. But if they got in his way, he would kill.

Molefur's yellow gaze watched the fox's movements. he was alone, there was nobody with him, but the young warrior wasn't about to let that stop him. He checked the wind againt, making sure he could not be scented, and began to follow, watching his step andtreading lightly.

Snarling a bit, Rashu shook his head. He was here to weaken the ranks of cats... He believed he was in what Sarataru's pet had called ShadowClan. The ground here was annoyingly damp and squishy underpaw, so he could not trace any amounts of energy coming from any living thing. He could feel the trees, he could feel their power. No, he would not harm them. Only cats. An odd fox, he was.

Molefur climber a tree, waited till he was above the fox and dropped out the tree, claws out.

Rashu's left ear twitched as he heard the creature leap out of the tree. His brain did an immediat analasys. Too small to be anything bigger than a wolverine. Too big to be a squirrel. It could only be a cat. His plan was to step aside before the cat hit the ground then swiftly pin it down, then kill it.

Molefur fell onto the ground, but didn't even flinch at the pain. He rolled away before the fox could crush him and stood up, pelt covered in dust. He lept forwards with the speed of a hare, aiming a slash at the animal's eyes. Without waiting to see if he had struck, he lept back again, wary of the beast's fangs and claws.

Not even a chuckle vibrated throughout his throat. Rashu knew exactly what to do. He had seen the leader of the Red Wolf Pack kill this way, too. However, it had been a deer's windpipe he had crushed. This was a cat, so he would snap its neck, too. Calculating quickly and silently, the fox leaned toward the left a bit, while holding his right foot out. The cat was plainly leaping for his eyes. The amount of training he had undergone told him that. He turned his head sideways and stepped about three paw-lengths forward. He aimed to catch the cat's throat or middle, then crush it.

OOC: I wrote that he jumped back as soon as he lashed...

(....You did? Whoops, sorry. >< I was talking about, you know, what happened in between the strike. How about that? You could say Rashu clipped him.)

Molefur galred at the fox, and tried to leap forwards, but his leg gave way. The Night-clan forsaken fox had brocken his leg! He hissed, ears back, retreating slowly.

Rashu didn't even grin. He wasn't that much of a sadistic killer. His tail swished, and he stepped toward the cat. He planned to kill the cat painlessly, but had missed the throat by a few mouse-steps. More than a few mouse-steps, since he had broken its leg. The cat was done-for, now. His concious cleared, now that he realized what he was doing. He felt like sighing.
Really, now, Rashu? You let that scum order you to tromp all the way out here just to kill some cats? How pathetic...
But he had already injured this cat. He had to kill it. He leaped forth and planned to pin it.

Molefur gave a cry as he was bowled over and pinned, sharp claws digging into him. "You sink this low fox, to kill without reason?" He didn't know why he said it; the stupid creature wouldn't understand, but it would feel wrong to die in silence.

Rashu's ear flicked.
"Wrong. I haff rea-son." Rashu's words came out harsh, but he had not practiced recently. It was impossible, as he hadn't seen his mentor in a long time. What did burn inside his mind, however, were the words of an ancient ceremony. A Red Wolf Ceremony. He stared into the cat's eyes.
"Let your Spirit return to its source of power. Let your Body remain on the soil. Let both body and soul be cherished." These words he spoke clearly, as they had been practiced many times.
"You not die with no reason." Rashu assured before applying a swift bite to the neck. His first cat kill, and his last. His reason for this cat's death was not simply orders, but the recognition of his error.

Molefur's eyes widened, and his mouth parted in a silent scream. Then his head fell back, limp. "Why.."

Rashu, trying not to be shocked by his actions, sighed and buried the cat. When his work was finished, he placed a leaf silently on the cat's grave, turned, and left.
I'm sorry... I will never hurt a cat again without reason. Sarataru must die.
