Tour o' the Territory

Mudpaw walked back to Ferretflight and sat down, beginning to unruffle his fur. "Well, how did i do?" he asked, and began cleaning again. "should i go again, or was that good?" Seeing the blank look on Ferretflights face, he asked "What's wrong?"

At first Ferretflight looked at Falconswoop unsurely, then made up her own mind. "Mudpaw, may I speak with you privately?" she asked, politely.

"yeah" Mudpaw said, stepping over to the side, where the others couldn't see him.

Ferretflight took a seat next to a pine, leaning on it's rough bark. "How long have you been able to turn like you have, Mudpaw?" she asked calmly, not hinting that something was not normal.

"Umm..." Mudpaw thought for a moment, then replied, "I think i've always ran like that. Or... uhh... I dont really know for sure, but I think i've ran kind of fast as a kit, and i don't really fast most of the time, since other cats move slowly..." Mosspaw went off in thought for a moment, then asked, "Why do you ask? Do I run slowly?"

"No. No, not at all." Ferretflight reassured. "In truth, you run faster than any cat I've ever known, even a WindClan cat." she spoke. "I think one of your ancestors must have been the fastest cat in WindClan. And your flexibility, no one can do that. It must be a gift from StarClan." she explained.

"what? a gift from starclan? but... Wow... I've never even noticed this... wait, I'm flexible?" he did the body fold again. "wow i guess i am! But it's so weird... I never really thought of this... Thank you for telling me, wow..." Mudpaw went off deep into thought, but he looked back up at Ferretflight. "how fast am i?" Mudpaw asked.

"Quick. You remind me of lightining the way you sped off to that oak. You could use this to your advantage, Mudpaw. You could chase your prey instead of stalk it. And you'll unpredictable in battle." Ferretflight's eyes shone bright with admiration.

"Really? I think i should learn to stalk prey, though, for battle and stuff, but wow. If I could outrun my prey, I'd be able to catch every one i smell, and if that, I'd be able to outrun enemies that couldn't outrun prey. I hope that someday I will be able to protect the clan." Mudpaw's eyes sparkled. "I need to practice my strengths, so I can be better than any cat could. I need to start with scenting, though, if i ever plan to find the prey. I couldn't smell that mouse until it was under my nose." Mudpaw said, mainly for himself. "I hope that these abilities stay with me, they seem quite versatile.

Ferretflight smiled, but then she frowned. She quickly pinned her apprentice to the ground. "You are not to use these powers to go against the Warrior Code. If you do.." she brought out her fierce claws and layed them lightly on Mudpaw's throat. "I will personally hunt you down myself. This Clan deserves rightful warriors, not mangy rogues."

"and you expect me to be a rogue? hah! Rogues are nothing but worthless fleabags!" Mudpaw said, sliding out from Ferretflights grasp. "And besides, who would ever even want to be a rogue? Not me of course, I find it gross and boring, living alone in the woods, starving to death. My plan is to become the leader of the clan, not a Flea-bitten bag of fleay fleas of which have fleas themselves!" Mudpaw shivered at the thought of fleas that had fleas. "Don't worry, betraying the clan is the last thing I'd want to do, you can't become leader that way!"

Ferretflight slid her claws back in. "Do not become so ambitious Mudpaw. Becoming leader is not what you think it is." she said.

"Oh, okay then, I just want to be respected by all cats." Mudpaw corrected himself. "I don't mind much what position I'm in, I just want to be remembered, and be remembered in a good way. I never want kits to listen to elders tales and have me be the one who is the one they fear. I only wish to do heroic deeds, and these newly found abilities, they'll just make it all the easier, but it still won't be easy." Moudpaw explained to himself, and Goldenpaw. "I just wish that I could be stronger faster, and i hope that you can help me with that." He looked up at Ferrerflight,meeting her gaze. "I will be as strong as you."

Ferretflight was flattered. "That's very kind of you, Mudpaw, but I'm no stronger than any other warrior in FireClan. Just be sure that these powers don't steer you off your path to that of a great warrior."

"I understand." Mudpaw mewed. "We'd better be getting back to the others, they'll be wondering where we've gone off to." Mosspaw said, while padding back towards the others.

Ferretflight quickly grunted agreement as she rose to join her apprentice and the others. "Where should we take them now, Falconswoop?"

Brightpaw watched the cats talking. She could just barely hear. She strained her ears and listened.
"Hah! Rouges are nothing but worthless fleabags!"
She hissed and laid her ears back, scowling. She glared at Mudpaw as he and Ferretflight returned. I used to be a rogue..!!

Falconswoop flicked his tail. "Hmm...how about the beach?"
He bristled, startled, as Brightpaw snarled and leaped forward, pinning Mudpaw to the earth.
"My mother was a rogue!" Brightpaw raged, unsheathing her claws and pricking them against Mudpaw's flesh.
"Hey!" Falconswoop jumped forward to separate them.

Ferretflight quickly tackled the younger she-cat and easily restrained her. "We said nothing of rogues, Brightpaw." she hissed with authority.

Brightpaw pulled away from Ferretflight. "Yes you did! Mudpaw said rogues were nothing but worthless fleabags!" she glared angrily into the warrior's eyes. "I used to be a rogue! My mother was a rogue!" she bared her teeth. "And she wasn't worthless!" her vision clouded as her eyes watered. "I'm not worthless!" Brightpaw darted away into the undergrowth, running blindly.

Ferretflight growled and was about to dart off after the apprentice. She quickly stopped herself. "Mudpaw, you started this, you end it." she pointed the direction Brightpaw went with her bushy tail.

Mudpaw ran after Brightpaw, running faster, but keeping a distance. He wanted to see where Brightpaw was running, but he kept downwind, he didn't want to be detected.

ooc: .....um......rogues aren't always powerhungry escapees, y'know...
......and Brightpaw was a rogue BEFORE she joined FireClan, and she has no intention of leaving and living alone again.

And plus, she can't even hear you. She ran off somewhere.
