Hunting(Naru)

Griffonpaw skirted through the trees into the territory. He was on a dawn hunting patrol with Cloudfrost. "Come on!" he shouted through the trees, waiting for his mentor.

"I'm coming!"Cloudfrost called,bounding through the forest with relative ease. He sensed every tree ahead by smelling the bitter tang of sap and hearing the wind brushing against tree bark,and he swerved to avoid them. He came to a halt at Griffonpaw's side,panting a little.

"You aren't getting old on me are ya?" Griffonpaw joked, today was the first time he was actually happy.

"Who're you callin' old?"he growled playfully,his tail swishing.

Griffonpaw sniffed the air, he smelled a small trace of toad. "You." he sneered back, of course he was joking. He started tracking the toad scent.

"I'll go this way. I smelled rabbit."Cloudfrost mewed,ignoring the friendly jab. He stalked into the undergrowth,ears pricked and nostrils flaring. He caught onto the scent trail quickly;even though he couldn't see it,he knew it was a good size from the heavy thumps that hit the ground. He pounced,nipping it's neck and dragging it back but it's throat. "This'll feed the Clan good tonight. It must have come from WindClan territory."

Griffonpaw had spotted his rubbery toad and brought it down to meet with Cloudfrost. "Yeah, Leaf-bare must finally be ending. I've never gotten this much prey." he guessed, the toad stuck in his jaws. He buried it next to a fern.

"No,just a really unusual warm day. I can still feel the snow falling,thoough."Cloudfrost commented,burying his prey next to Griffonpaw's.

"It can't be too far off until the snow will finally melt away. You should know, I've never lived through Leaf-bare." Griffonpaw commented as he drank in the air again. Rat, really strong. He tracked to about two fox-lengths away and killed it. He dragged it back to the fern, the rat was huge, but skinny all at the same time.

"Actually,we're only about half-way through leafbare."Cloudfrost mewed,eyes gleaming dully.

Griffonpaw sighed. "Things will get better." he told himself. He looked around, but saw no prey. He wasn't sure if he wanted to hunt anymore.

"You wanna take all the prey back to camp and come out for some battle training?"Cloudfrost suggested,sensing Griffonpaw's doubt.

"Sure. Should we wake Cinderpaw?" Griffonpaw asked, the she-cat had gotten little sleep, but she had asked to be waken when he and Cloudfrost were back.

"Sure. If you want."he mewed,grabbing his rabbit.

Griffonpaw nodded. He picked up his toad and his rat and made his way back to camp, in the lead.

Cloudfrost trotted after Griffonpaw, eyes shining. He hadn't done battle training in a while, but this time he'd beat Griffonpaw.
