Two Birds

Kestrelpaw unsheathed his claws and dug them into the ground with anger. He knew it was true, but he was tired of this cat! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! With every though he dug his claws in deeper and clawed new grooves into the ground. He wanted to rip into Griffonshade and give him scars that would shut him up, but her couldn't. He barely knew how to fight, and he was probably too small. The idea shown easily in his eyes as they fixed on him. He began to think then. If he learned to fight, then he could. He could turn him bald if he tried to rub him the wrong way.

"Fine then," he spat, standing up now. He'd worked this whole thing out in his head. He had a plan.

Griffinshade looked at his angered pupil. "Are you going to fight or run off like a beaten kittypet coward?" he questioned, his eyes blazed boldly. He wasn't angry, he learned himself how much anger could affect one's self. So he taught himself to control his own feelings until he could take them out alone.

OOC: Now I wanna bring Cloudy in. He misses his buddy/student Griffonshade. XD

"I don't know, you tell me," he answered quickly. If anything, he was trying to provoke the cat until he finally decided to do something and stop being so vague. He kept his gaze on him, his tail twitching furiously. He sheathed his claws, knowing full well that they shouldn't fight with their claws unsheathed.

Griffinshade pounced forward, jumping clear over Kestrelpaw and landing right behind him. "Think quick." he growled gruffly. He bent his neck down to grab at his tail and jerk it to the side and get his apprentice off his balance.

Cloudfrost padded through the woods, apprenticeless since Griffonshade had become a warrior. He was proud of the younger cat, and proud of himself. At first, he hadn't thought of training the arrogant Griffonpaw. But once he was appointed as his mentor, his perspective changed. He and Griffonshade became friends and trained nearly every day.

And now he was a warrior himself with an apprentice. No, two apprentices. But Foxpaw was nowhere to be found. His sightless blue gaze landed on his former apprentice, 'watching' him train Kestrelpaw. He'll have his paws full with them, he observed, listening to the sound of fur scraping dust and paws pounding on the ground.

Kestrelpaw whipped around before Griffinshade could grasp his tail. He'd tried that move before. He ran under the tom, glad for his still kitlike size and did a small jump forward, his jaws open to try to grasp Griffinshade's thigh.

"Good!" he meowed, relieved that his apprentice was finally fighting him. Griffinshade swung his leg forward that, if he did it right, would kick Kestrelpaw in the face.

Kestelpaw rolled out of the way. Oh, so he was trying to knock his eyes out now! He found himself from under Griffinshade, but he ran back under, lunging for his other leg. Instead of just a little light attack, he aimed to actually bite Griffinshade as hard as he possibly could. Hoping to draw blood and cause injuries to his mentor.

"Good reflexes!" Griffinshade almost grinned. He knew his apprentice was under him, the young cat's jaws going for his other leg. He went with the first move that went through his mind. he let his weight fall. He fell through the air and he tried to lift his legs up and curl them around Kestrelpaw. He'll definitely be a warrior I'll have to watch myself with.

Kestrelpaw was pushed to the ground just milimeters from his target. Before he was fully on the ground he tried to crawl forward to get from under the fat cat, but he was pushed down all of the way before he could get to the other side. He squirmed in earnest, trying to get from under his mentor.

Griffinshade grunted, feeling the thin, muscled cat under him squirm. "Think Kestrelpaw, what can you do?" he questioned, not moving a muscle.

Kestrelpaw squirmed harder, but alas, it didn't work. If he were strong enough, he'd try to flip over or something, but that would come in time. Why can't it be this time? He stopped squirming and just laid there, thinking about what he could possibly do. "I don't know," he grumbled, "wait until you get off me."

Griffinshade nodded. "Exactly. When your opponent gets you in this posititon, there is almost nothing you can do, then they have a clear shot at your neck." He mewed at Kestrelpaw as he got off the young tom. He sat down and looked at him, "If you can get a paw loose, use it. It might be able to buy you some more time, or, if your lucky and StarClan favors you, some leverage." He rose his head and looked over at Cloudfrost. "Hello old friend." he smiled.

That was the right answer? Well... huh. Somehow he'd gotten the right answer. A little grin appeared on his face and he got from under Griffinpaw. He turned to his mentor. "Can't we do some hunting or something now? Fighting is boring." He only acknowledged Cloudfrost with a quick glance before looking back at his shared mentor.

Griffinshade's eyebrows rose, suprised. "You would rather hunt?" he thought about this for a moment. They hadn't trained very much today and there was still a bit of time to hunt. He shrugged. "I suppose. Would you like to join us Cloudfrost?" he asked the white warrior.

"Fighting is repetitive," he stated. Kestrelpaw looked back at Cloudfrost when Griffinshade suggest he come along. He glared back at Griffinshade. "Isn't he blind? Last time I check, blind cats couldn't hunt." Really. Was his mentor stupid or something? They'd haveto hold his tail the whole way!

Griffinshade growled, he glared back at his apprentice. "You'd be surprised at what this old warrior is capapable of." he snarled. "Would you like to show him something Cloudfrost?" he questioned boldly, not looking away from Kestrelpaw.

Kestrelpaw scoffed. Yeah, this would be good. "So I just watch him stumble around or what?" Yeah, this would be great entertainment. All he'd have to do was step out of the way a couple times and he'd be done. No injuries or anything else. "Look. All I'm saying is that I could catch more mice than he could. And I haven't even leanred how to hunt yet."

Cloudfrost ambled into the clearing, confidently padding towards his old apprentice. "I see he's just like you were when I took you on as an apprentice," he growled, stung by the younger cat's remarks about his blindness. He twitched his ears. "I'd be glad to hunt with you. Just after I teach this youngster how to fight."

Griffinshade laughed. "As you wish." he flicked his tail at Kestrelpaw. "You're really going to regret you even met this cat." he smiled, he turned away and sat at the edge of the clearing setting in to watch the fight.

Kestrelpaw turned towards Cloudfrost. "Aw, do we have to? It's so uneventful, and StarClan knows it'll be worse with you." Did the cat even know where he was? He waved his tail to check for any type of reaction to show he'd notice. Hmphf. This would be too easy.

Cloudfrost, of course, couldn't see Kestrelpaw's tail waving in front of his face. But he felt the slight breeze that blew past his nose, and hear the soft scrape of fur against fur as he moved. He reached up with one paw and batted at it, irritated. "I'm not so blind, kit." he growled. "And I'm not so old either." He suddenly sprinted off, to the left, and zigzagged back over to where Kestrelpaw was, aiming to tackle the younger cat to the ground. He pinpointed him by his disdainful tail-waving easily.

Griffinshade grinned wickedly. This'll teach that cat some respect. He enjoyed the show, knowing Cloudfrost was easily going to win.

Kestrelpaw growled as he tail was thrust to the ground. "I'm not a kit!" He growled at Cloudfrost. His anger momentarily distracting him. He was knocked over by the blind warrior, growling as he hit the ground. He attacked Cloudfrost's head with his paws and with his hind ones he kicked at his neck and chest.
