Frustrated(Open)

"How? We need the water to get our food, so a little rain won't hurt us. What's stuck in your fur?" This wasn't helping her mood at all, with his yelling. It made her feel stupid and inadequate, like she was missing something everyone got.

"Of course you don't know!" Batpaw snapped, turning to start stalking away. Jeez! Those cats were so stupid! If they didn't get it out of their thick skulls that they needed the forest prey to survive as well, then they'd all die.

Ravenfeather felt her blood beginning to boil. Was this really just about prey? She got up, her neck fur bristling and her claws unsheathing to sink into the muddy ground. "What's your problem, Batpaw? Why do you only think about yourself? Do you like hurting other cats? Is that it?" She snarled, her eyes a blazing blue fire now, not afraid to challenge him in her anger.

Batpaw turned, his eyes blazing golden. "Because I have no reason to get close to other cats now! Why should I care what you feel?"

"But everyone needs to be close to other cats," Orchardpaw said in a less yelly way, taking the roll of the she-cat that wants to "help" but usually ruins everything in books. How could he not be close to anyone? Or feel? Did he not have feelings?

Batpaw shook his head, slow anger burning in his belly. "Not me. I couldn't care less about either of you, or anyone at camp." he said, pronouncing each word carefully. "I don't care if I hurt your feelings. I wouldn't care if you fell off a cliff."

"I didn't tell you to care about my feelings!" She shouted, all attempts to keep her voice down forgotten. She shouldered past the other she-cat and held Batpaw's gaze, blazing cobalt and molten gold met, and Ravenfeather could feel the tension in the air crackle. "I just want to know why you can't mourn for your lost family and be close to the other cats in the Clan." She hissed. She didn't mean to add the "in the Clan" part, but if he caught the hint, good.

Batpaw didn't turn away. He knew exactly what she meant, as well. He narrowed his eyes, not saying anything for several heartbeats. "Friends only cause pain." he finally hissed. If he had fingers he would have air-quoted Friends, but he didn't so he just twitched his tail angrily.

"Not if you make friends with the right cats. You know, ones that can be your friends no matter what happens." She growled, lashing her tail. She could keep picking at this scar if she wanted. Her anger was only egging her on.

"Oh like who? Tell me who they are and I'll be glad to have a little chat with them." he said sarcastically, narrowing his eyes into slits.

Orchardpaw was stunned. He didn't care for friends, he didn't even care for his clan mates. What was wrong with him? Was it somethig they'd done? Or was he just untouchable? "I can't even believe that..." she whispered to herself.

Orcharpaw would have raised her tail to say that Batpaw could look in her for a friend, but she couldn't let it out. She was too shy, too timid. She couldn't say it and risk something...

"I don't know! Or were you just waiting for a random cat's head to pop out of the river?" Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Orchardpaw looking extremely uncomfortable as she watched the two of them. She flicked her gaze back to Batpaw, and her feeling of annoyance and anger was renewed. At that moment, she hated everything about him. How he was so remote and refused to even try to be nice to his Clan-mates. How he could dismiss others' feelings so easily. Do you like to live like this, Batpaw? Is that really how you want to spend your life? She asked him through her eyes.

Batpaw cringed ever so slightly. In fact, he had been waiting for Leafpaw. Not that he expected her to come, but still... "There's nothing here that makes me happy. So. Stop. Pestering. Me." he snarled, flattening his ears against his head.

"Then why don't you just swim across and leave us? Since you hate us all, right? Why don't you join her in her Clan, if that'll make you happy? It will, won't it?" She snapped right back, exasperation mingled with frustration making the words explode out of her mouth.

Batpaw's eyes widened. Does she know?! Panic filled his gaze for a moment. "No." he said coldly, his eyes darkening with anger and surprise. "I am loyal to RiverClan. And I don't know who you're talking about."

"Oh, please. Even a kit could see it." She scoffed. So, I was right, wasn't I? She thought, seeing the panic in his eyes. If she had blinked, she would have missed it, too.

OOC: Losing muse... *grasps desperately onto it*

"See what?" Batpaw was having an increasingly difficult time not showing his fear. It was very unlikely that Ravenfeather had seen him and Leafpaw.

"Your lovesick-ness." She whispered coolly, so quietly that she didn't know if he'd heard or not. Alright, she didn't have a better word for it. But that was simply it.

She'd whispered so quietly because... well, as angry as she was with him, she wouldn't give away a secret like this to another soul. She'd almost forgotten that Orchardpaw was still there. Her eyes narrowed to slits again. But with his growing discomfort came her growing amusement. She shook the feeling off and cleaned a paw. Her anger was ebbing, slowly being replaced by a sadness... maybe even pity for him. Ugh.

Batpaw took a step back, shaking his head slowly. "It's nothing." he growled.

She looked up, her eyes glinting, still narrowed. "Really?" It wasn't a question. "Because that's not what it looked like. It definitely looked like something."

He flattened his ears against his head, his heart pounding wildly. How could she know? Did she follow him? How much had she seen? It couldn't have been much. He and Leafpaw were just friends... Right?

He suddenly realized how close he'd gotten to Leafpaw that night, before she'd left with an escort of ThunderClan warriors, and felt his fur blaze. "Then what did it look like?" he shot back at her, growling.

Ravenfeather rolled her eyes, then flicked an ear casually in Orchardpaw's direction. He wanted her to say it in front of Orchardpaw? That was fine by her.

Batpaw bristled. "Did you follow me?" he asked in a low growl. It was meant only for Ravenfeather's ears. He barely remembered that Orchardpaw was here anymore.

Orcahrdpaw pricked her ears. Go to another clan? How could Ravenfeather suggest such a thing? And who was her? She caught that in Ravenfeather's early speech. What were they talking about?

Things started to become very tense here. It was like something was about to come out, but nothing was actually being said. What was going on? Their fight was so heated that she didn't even think they knew she was there anymore. She crouched down again, flattening her ears to her head.

Maybe they would have forgotten about her and everything would just come out? Whatever it was, if it were anything.

The black she-cat sneered. "I already told you, I didn't follow you." Mouse-brain. She added mentally. Why would she, anyways? She wasn't lying, really. She was just quiet and observant, and if the other cats in RiverClan were too, they'd figure out his secretive night-life as well in less than a heartbeat.
