Medicine cat on duty

Pinepaw stood outside the collapsed medicine den. Few herbs had been salvaged from the wreckage. He shook his head. Such a waste. "All injured cats!`He yowled, "Come to me!" He hoped that cats who were too injured would be helped here by other warriors.

Sparrowflight hobbled in on her injured legs. "Its nothing really, Pinepaw. I only came in to make Eagleflight feel better, she didnt get hurt much and she feels bad for me. The only problem is that i got a couple niks and bruises." She lied unconvincingly.

Otterkit came towards Pinepaw, mumbling curses about his mother, his sissy sister and his stupid clan in general. He gave a cough, a sneeze, then started coughing some more. "Mother says I'm sick." He growled, in a voice that suggested his nasel passaged where blocked.

Pinepaw gazed at sparrowflight sharply, "Yeah right" He grunted. He looked back onto the pitiful herb pile and saw Otterkit mumbling something, while coughing harshly. "Mother says I'm sick." Otterkit said in a shaky voice. No, really? Pinepaw resisted saying that.

"Okay, I'll tend to Otterkit because he is off worse then you" Watertail said, looking in his herb pile for the right ones, "I'll get right back to you I promise." He got out some Yarrow and some poppy seeds. The yarrow was to clear any nasal blockage, when Otterkit would vomit, and the poppy seeds would calm him to sleep. He pushed the yarrow forward with his paw, "Take this, it tastes like catnip" He lied.

"EW!" Otterkit hissed as soon as he smelt the herb's tangy scent. "I aint eatin that! And whats catnip?" Where in Nightclan's name is Minkfur? She may be an old bat but she's better than this pathetic excuse for a dead mouse!

Pinepaw rolled his eyes. Kits. They were all the same. "Ok, I will give you a choice" He said impatiently, "You can either take this herb, or I will force you to eat it. Ok?"

"Good luck!" Otterkit meowed, before claming his jaws firmly shut. His slightly overgrown fangs seemed to lock togather, and his lips turned to stone.

Otterkit sealed his mouth. "Ok, fine by me. I can't force you to get better" He told him as he walked toward sparrowflight.

Otterkit puffed out his chest indignantly. "I'm not sick! I don't get sick."

"You don't get sick" He asked, "Then why are you coughing?" He turned to sparrowflight and examined her wounds, then he went back to the herb pile. He picked out cobwebs to stop the bleeding, and poppy seeds to numb the pain. He pushed the cobwebs to her. "Press these against your leg wounds" He told her.

"Cuz some idiot shoved moss down my throat in his sleep I bet!" Otterkit hissed.
