Death of a former deputy.

Blacksnow stepped forwards, sighing. The secret she had hidden form her clan, the reason she had backed down from her position was to be discovered any day now. She closed her eyes and remembered the faitful night... She opened them again, sweeping her gave over the Great River. It stopped on a small bundle of fur. A kit!

Without thinking of the dangers, the she-cat lept in, swimming toward the bundle of fur. She was swimming witht he current, so she reached it quickly. Her eyes widened as she gripped the fur, realizing that was all it was; not a kit after all. She began to swim back, against the powerful pull of the current. She got about a mouse-tail furthe before losing her strengh and being swept onto the sharp rocks on the side.

She gave a cry as they peirced her black and white pelt, then fell silent. Her blood tainted the water red, and she closed her eyes for the final time, remembering once more the night.

As the former deputy's life ended, so did that of the kits growing in her belly.
