Jadeclaw- A Hero's Death (Nightstar ONLY)

Jadeclaw stalked at the edge of the lake, keeping his shadow off the water. He was catching as much prey as he could. I wonder how Amberstorm is doing? They hadn't talked much after her warrior ceremony. Suddenly he saw the glimmer of a fish. He struck out, flipping it out of the water, then killed it with a slam to the ground.

Nightstar sat hidden in the shadows behind Jadeclaw. He missed RiverClan somewhat, and he wanted too see how they were holding up, it seemed like they had completely forgotten about the four valuable cats that they had lost. And they had no idea that he was now Nightstar, leader of DarkClan, and father of four kits. But he guessed they had better things to worry about. And here was the Deputy of another Clan, what would he do, he could easily kill him as a sign that DarkClan had risen, that was what he would do!

Jadeclaw scented the air, immediatly noticing someone nearby. The scent was familiar, yet somehow different. He looked around, examining everything closely.

"Jadeclaw. It's been a while." It must have been strange to see a cat that had once been an ally suddenly appear out of nowhere, even though Nightstar had grown to being a little bigger than an Apprentice, he was still a very small cat. And the wicked glint in his eye practically begged for a good challenge.

Jadeclaw spun around and stared at Nightstar. "Nightpaw? Is that you?" He ignored the little voice in the back of his head, telling him to run. "Where have you been?" He growled.

"Nightpaw." Nightstar spat the name, "I no longer go by that name." he mewed aggressively standing tall on all four legs with his head raised high. "You can call me Nightstar now." he yowled unsheathing his claws looking at his much larger foe, sizing up how he would approach, and how he would kill this RiverClan Deputy.

Jadeclaw's eyes glinted. "You've never been a warrior, so how could you be a leader? Or have you forgotten the code and become a filthy loner?" Jadeclaw hissed. He took up a battle position, pain burning in his leg.

"I was granted nine lives, to lead my Clan." mewed Nightstar walking towards the warrior. "I've been gone a long time, a lot of things can happen in that time." His sleek pelt glistened in the sunlight, and he could see Jadeclaw wasn't even fit to fight.

"What clan? You mean a little group of scrawny rogues?" Then a horrible thought crashed into Jadeclaw's mind. "Did you ally with Tigerstar?" He spat, guessing the answer.

"Rogues? Isn't that what the Clans are made of?" Nightstar mewed, "Doesn't matter what a Clan is made of, and more of the loyalty of the cats within? Why should think that RiverClan cat would understand, or any of you cats, ThunderClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, WolfClan, and even FireClan." said Nightstar is tone defiance, and irritable. "Come on, attack, I know you want to."

Jadeclaw hissed but shook his head. I can't fight! "You must have been too weak for a real clan. I won't bring my claws upon the weak." Jadeclaw knew he should run, maybe bring reinforcements, like Blackclaw. But that would be cowardly, and Nightstar would taunt him every time they met. He held his ground, waiting.

"Then I guess your to afraid." he mewed, turning around for a second, but then whipping around in a surprise leap claws outstretched to land on Jadeclaws shoulders. Hoping to get an even steadier hold on his opponent by biting into his neck scruff, if he was shaken off, then JadeClaw would tumble with him.

Jadeclaw shrieked a battle cry, and leapt into the lake, hoping to drown Nightstar, or at least make it climb off his back.

Into the water both the cats went, since Nightstar was a RiverClan cat, he didn't mind the water soaking his pelt. But as they sunk in to the water, he could see the light dimming around him. Was he going to lose a life? No, he had to keep fight. Moving his forepaws closer to Jadeclaw's throat he planned to drive them straight through, while he kept a hold on Jadeclaw with his teeth, if he moved Nightstar would drive his claws in even more.

Jadeclaw suddenly sprung up out of the water and and landed on his back, that is, on Nightstar. "You won't kill me that easily!" He rolled over, hoping Nightstar still wasn't clinging to his back.

As they breached the water, Nightstar flipped in mid-air getting loose of Jadeclaw. Using his superior speed he hoped to pounce on JadeClaw holding him down with all four of his paws, and preparing to go in for the kill with a Death bite to the throat, still dripping wet, and pelt clinging to his skin. "How does it feel to look Death in the face?"

Jadeclaw was furious. "I should be asking you." He constantly slashed out at Nightstar. This is no apprentice! I could be killed! He hoped reimforcements would be nearby, Shadowstar leaping from the bushes, or a patrol would come and help. But he knew no one was nearby, other than Nightstar.

Using the strength NightClan had gifted him with, he slowly reached with his jagged fangs aiming to bite his throat and end his life for good. He knew he was winning this battle, though Jadeclaw was a formidable opponent, his own stomach was dripping from the fierce claw marks Jadeclaw was giving him, but with this last bite it would end Jadeclaw and send him to StarClan. "DIE!!!"

Nightstar's fangs had hit Jadeclaw's throat perfectly. He felt Nightstar had missed, and slahed at Nightstar's muzzle, only to find he couldn't move his paws. Then he collapsed, and everything was blurred except for three shiny cats standing in front of him.They beckoned with their tails for Jadeclaw to follow them toward the Riverclan camp. By now he realized what had happened. He was dead.
