Griffinshade nodded approvingly, "Your doing great. Keep practicing that. Count your heartbeats as you do it too. If you can stand up on your hind legs like this," the large tom was still on his hind legs, "for ten heartbeats, you can easily do the Upright Lock." he meowed. He went back down on his other two paws, all four resting on the solid earth. "After that, try to move all your weight, all your strength, into your front legs. Go down as hard as you can. This will add to your speed so you don't have to worry about that. And remember to keep your claws out."

What? That's too much, especially that heartbeat thing. He wasn't going to remember all of that! He went back down on all fours. "Maybe I'm just better in the spur of the moment," he mewed. He'd done this move before, so why he couldn't do it now was a little odd.

Maybe he could just stand up and... slam down really quick. Maybe not. "Can we try something else?" He mewed, already starting to get a tad bored, and irritated with himself. It wa snever a good combination.

Griffinshade nodded, "Yeah. I'll think of something a little easier, that move takes a little time to get used to. Don't worry, your doing better than I did." he mewed, thinking of something else to teach Kestrelpaw. The Back Kick probably wouldn't be any better than the Upright Lock, so that's out. He probably already knows the Belly Rake, it's one of the simplest known to the Clans. I'm not about to teach him the Killing Bite, so that's out. What about the Leap-and-Hold? He could probably use that and it isn't that hard to learn.
He looked back down from the trees he zoned out in, meeting Kestrelpaw's eyes. "Ok. This move is easy and it's perfect for apprentices and small cats like you." he stood up, turning away from his apprentice. "All you have to do his jump onto my back and hold. Don't worry about injuring me, you can use your claws to get a grip."

Small? Small! Small!? Okay, just because he wasn't full grown yet doesn't mean he was small! He was plently big! Plenty plenty big! He had the paws to prove it. Stupid tom. Made him want to rip him in half. But he had to keep control. That's what Cloudfrost said, right? Keep in control.

He sighed. Well, Griffonshade said he could use his claws, so he was going to get himself a nice grip. Kestrelpaw advanced on Griffonshade with a good speed and jumped to catch onto his mentors back, his claws unsheathed, ready to dig into his shoulders with a nice, deep, grip.

Griffinshade silently winced, his eyes clamping shut for a moment as Kestrelpaw's great weight and sharp claws fell into his flesh. He ignored it, kept his mind focused on teaching his pupil. "Good. Now from up here you could do major damage to any cat, and there's not much they can do but roll on the ground. You have to remember to jump off because if they get you on the ground, there's not much you can do. The perfect time to jump off is when they have just about lost their balance falling onto the ground, then you can jump off with all the force you have, scratching them on their belly." he mewed, trying his best to keep his voice level as Kestrelpaw's claws drove deeper and deeper under his fur.

"Oh, okay," Kestrelpaw mewed, really enjoying himself now. Yeah, he was having fun now, being on the control, even if it was just a show. But, hey, how often will he have this chance? "Can we try it out, Griffonshade? Just so I can grasp the urgency of it and all." He asked like the eager apprentice he should be.

Even if he was happy, he hadn't gotten over the small thing, so everything that he did up until that point was all revenge.

Griffinshade sighed, mostly letting all the air from holding his breath. "Yeah I guess, claws sheathed got it?" he meowed, not waiting for a reply. He let all his weight onto his left side, slowly falling. Instantly, everything fell into slow motion. He could hear everything, the quiet wind whistling through the bare pine trees, the rare chirping of a few birds. The mud overwhelmed his nose and he could smell Foxpaw off in the distance, with her thrush. He saw everything in front of him, every piece of bark, every blade of grass of dead leaf clinging weakly to some struggling plant. He was gone, he couldn't stop himself from falling now. This moment was perfect for Kestrelpaw to pull the move off. "Now!" he shouted.

Hehe. Yeah, claws sheathed. Kestrelpaw felt himself falling down with Griffonshade. It was kind of weird, that almost falling feeling. He unhooked his claws from Griffonshade and readied himself for the jump, muscles tensed. When he heard the call thrown he jumped off his mentors back, landing smoothly on the ground.

He took his paws with claws he's "forgotten" to sheathe and brought them down to rake them down his mentors stomach, and maybe even throw in a couple extra claw slashes. Actually, yeah, he decided to try and throw some of them in too, that would add extra damage to the make-believe foe, right?

Griffinshade realized he'd been tricked, the whole thing was probably a trick. He growled fiercely, his back hitting the ground as he shot up his two left legs to hit Kestrelpaw and fend him off. "Traitor!" he growled angrily.

Kestrelpaw was pushed back harshly when Griffonshade smacked him in the face with his crazy hind-paws of doom. He hissed as some of the mud had gotten into his eyes, stinging him. He got up from the ground, his fur darker from the mud. One eye open, the other closed, he couldn't really clean it out, seeing how there was mud of his own feet. He'd have to get professional help.

He growled at Griffonshade when he threw out his accusation. Traitor? Never! He wasn't like that. "You take that back!" He growled at them. He was no traitor! And to be called one was like losing a leg. He was loyal to his clan.

Griffinshade jumped onto his paws, mud sticking to his sides and back. "Yeah? Then what's up with the claws, you DarkClan filth!" he growled, his side seeping out blood, stinging as mud threatened his wounds with infection.

Oh what!? DarkClan!? Oh, now that was just going to far! He could live with being a traitor, but DarkClan!? No. Even if he had never met a DarkClan cat in his life or met one, or even seen one in action, he knew they were no good. The lowest fo the low. And he just called him the lowest of the low.

He couldn't take it! Kestrelpaw could easily come up with an excuse for the whole claw thing, but how could he even think we that accusation!? How could he!? He'd lived in this clan-for what?-his whole life. And... never! It threw in all of the rage he had for everything and more still! It added rage, mulitplied rage! It did everything, but make it smaller!

He couldn't think straight, no, not at all. He couldn't take it. So instead of doing it smart, and making himself look innocent, he did the one thing he shouldn't. He ran at Griffonshade full speed, and jumped at him, ready to claw out his eyes.

Griffinshade was shocked, but he didn't loose the furious look on his face, seeing Kestrelpaw charge at him. Instantly, the instincts of the ShadowClan warrior stepped in, sending him into battle without a second thought.
He charged forward, sliding under the cat. Then, he pushed up fiercely, jumping into the air. He didn't know if he hit the apprentice yet, but he went on with his move. He sent his head up, starting a back flip. As his back was directly above the ground, he kicked out hard with all his legs. If he did it right, Kestrelpaw would be sent through the air. He'd practiced this move so many times before, he couldn't see himself messing it up. Not on account of the piece of crow-food he was battling.

OOC: WHA!? *cupuzzled* I think I read that wrong, but... XD

It was actually an incoherent blurr of what just happened. It was like, Griffonshade was there, and then he was in another spot. It was like he was some freakish bug or something. You know those bugs you try to keep in your sight, but they somehow disappear in the air even if you were looking straight at them through some crazy manuever. Well... that's what was happening right now.

Whatever happened in this flurry of fur was something Kestrelpaw didn't know even occured, like his anger was making him see things. Next thing he'd know there'd be some cat from ThunderClan watching them with fish in its jaws. But, this wasn't the point...

The point was, Kestrelpaw ran head-first into pain. Whether he was in the air or on the ground didn't matter. Whatever he did was probably a bad move and he didn't know how to react to something he didn't even know happened.

OOC: Um... IDK. That's my post. XD Foxpaw should come and break it up at some point. And... my next question. SHOULD SOMEONE GET ALMOST-DEATHBITTEN!? XD Cause that would be awesome.

ooc: I explain da move to ya. Griffin jumped up, pushin Kestrel into the air. He did a backflip and pushed Kestrel even farther up with his paws as he went back down. Simple as that. He supposed to do a belly rake, but he know better den that.

Griffinshade watched above him, moving slightly out of the way in case Kestrelpaw landed somewhere he wasn't supposed to. He didn't want to fight his apprentice, he was only in self-defense mode. Other wise, the young tom would be dead already.

ooc: Yeah, have Foxeh try to break it up and hurt Kestrel in the process.

OOC: Oh, well that totally makes sense with the explanation.

Kestrelpaw grunted when he landed on the ground roughly. He stood up and shook his head, his eyes immediately locking onto Griffonshade with the highest form of anger so fluid that it could have easily been hatred. Somewhere in his clouded consciousness he made a memorandum to look out for his mentors trick.

Again, he ran towards him, this time instead of a full on attack he quickly jumped to Griffonshade's side, and then just as swiftly jumped to his rear. Kestrelpaw ran forward again, this time to attempt to slip under Griffonshade and shift his weight so he could force the cat to tumble to his side and onto his belly, giving him his advantage. Then, his claws would be more than ready to attack his belly again, his pure anger almost giving them their own minds.

Griffinshade took the upper paw, seeing Kestrelpaw under him he let his legs fall out. Kestrelpaw should pinned beneath his weight, forced into a submission. But there was always the chance he slipped out or something along those lines.

Kestrelpaw growled as he was suddenly forced to the ground, his move, though hastily decided, failing. He pushed his feet off of the ground, moving his body to the side so he could roll and get Griffonshade off of him and get himself back onto his feet. He hoped that Griffonshade wasn't as fat as he thought he was, because then that would make things really hard.

Griffinshade felt his weight lifted, He's not as bad as I thought he was!. He was rolled over onto his side, falling onto his back so that his belly showed. He was ready though, if Kestrelpaw decided to attack, he'd get a big surprise.

OOC: But still pretty fail. D:

Kestrelpaw, now on his feet, glared down at Griffonshade. Stupid mentor, accusing him of such unspeakable things! How could he!? He was no mentor of his, he was something else. He was just some pawn made to stay with him until he became "acceptable". Griffonshade was too quick to say he was just as low as DarkClan. It was like he'd had it in his head the whole time he'd known him. Like he'd accused him from the start.

He'd never liked Griffonshade. Never found some type of connection strong enough to really call him much of a friend, but since this recent ... occurrence (he couldn't bare to even name it) he could say he truly hated him, loathed him, wished millions of deaths upon him and it so clearly reflected in his eye. Never had he felt so much contempt.

He glared down at him before leaping, claws full and ready, aiming for the cats face moreso than his belly, more determined than anything to give him a permanent mark to show him how much he hated him. Or he really, actually, honestly wanted to scrap out one of his eyes.

Griffinshade saw it coming and reacted. As quick as he could he kicked up his back legs, throwing them over his head at the exact time he thought Kestrelpaw was about to hit. "Get off me, rogue!" he yowled, hoping his paws would hit. He still wouldn't use any of his claws, knowing that he'd still be injuring a Clan-mate, but he hoped Kestrelpaw would get kicked out, than he'd show no mercy towards the little flea. He'd kill him without even a second thought.

Kestrelpaw felt paws suddenly hit his head and was pushed back. He shook his head, a little confused. He'd been hit right in the ear and now, not only did it hurt, but there was a terrible ringing. He hated it, he couldn't think because of it! It only made him angrier.

He ran back at Griffonshade, and again went for the cats face, even if he had a terrible headache now. Now, not only was he angry, but not he was frustrated for his own incompetence. He could barely hit the darn cat and he was constantly thrown around as easily as moss.

What a fool! Couldn't Kestrelpaw see that he wasn't going to be able to beat a seasoned warrior? What sort of incompetence could you have when you can't even realize that?
Regardless, Griffinshade was still fighting, and Kestrelpaw was on the offense. He jumped onto his paws, leaping again, hard on his hind legs. He flew threw the air and pushed his hind paws down when he thought the stubborn tom was under him.

Kestrelpaw growled when he felt himself pushed down with all harshness under the tom's paws. In any battle, his was as good as done. His back was exposed and could easily be ravaged, he could barely escape. If he stood up he could only make himself more exposed.

He yelled out with all frustration, basically quitting. And, suddenly, he didn't care anymore. So what? Griffonshade could do whatever he wanted. He couldn't even remember what he attacked for. Maybe it was an excuse for something else, but he didn't want to think deeper into it and he couldn't care.

He growled again, finding himself stuck on the ground. He dug his claws into the ground, and then suddenly he was angry again and found himself attacking the ground, rather than Griffonshade, his tail lashing. He could have at least attacked the cats feet, but he didn't think of it, and it was already too late.
