Hunt Training

Kestrelpaw made one last scrape at the dirt, feeling utterly miserable. He wished he was just a warrior now, so eh wouldn't have to go through this, and he wouldn't have to talk to Griffonshade or see him on a regular basis or anything. He could go about his business and do the duties of the clan. But no, he couldn't, because time wouldn't let him just hop forward.

"Why did I have to be your apprentice?" He growled. Why couldn't he have been someone else's?

Griffinshade let out an uneasy breath. "It wasn't my choice, the leader makes those decisions, not me." he stayed on his apprentice's back in case the young tom decided he'd loose it again.

Kestrelpaw growled again and stood up suddenly a move that could knock any unsuspecting cat off their feet. He was angry, unnaturally angry, but he did nothing because he didn't see the point anymore. So now he could just wait while... Griffonshade decided to run back to camp or whatever and call him a traitor over and over.

He just wanted to go now....

OOC: I DON'T WANT TO END THE THREAD! We must combine it with other plots. XD

Griffinshade jumped off and landed on his paws, quickly rounding so he was facing towards Kestrelpaw. "You know you can't win this fight, why don't you use your head for a change?" he growled, his eyes narrowed.

OOC: WE NEED RAINEH! AND CLOUD! XD

Kestrelpaw hissed at Griffonshade. "You're not so great," he growled, a threat etched in every word. He was suddenly feeling like he really did want to maim him and rip him into a pulp. He didn't know if he really wanted to kill him, as killing was an unfathomable thing, but he almost felt like he had to or that he really wanted to. It was confusing.

Griffinshade stood still, "This time I won't hesitate to use my claws." he mewed strongly. His muscles were tensed and his claws dug into the ground, he was ready to evade any attack.

OOC: *Needs a recap before she can post* D: WHAT HAPPENED?

OOC: KESTREL AND GRIFFIN STARTED FIGHTING! XD

Foxpaw trotted towards where she heard the undergrowth rustling. "Hey you guys!" she griped. "You started a play-fight without me!" Her voice seemed to die as her head poked through the ferns, the soft fur around her face dripping with the dew from the wet leaves. She saw red splashes covering Griffonshade and Kestrelpaw, and her eyes went huge.

It seemed like they were gonna fight again.... She leaped forwards, standing between them. "Hey! You're Clanmates! Clanmates aren't supposed to fight!" she gasped.

Griffinshade eased himself a little, not much, just slightly. "You should teach your friend here not to use his claws, not that it gets him any where with a warrior like me." he growled, still leaning forward in case Kestrelpaw felt it was time for him to attack.

Kestrelpaw growled at Foxpaw when she ran in, stopping them like a girl would. He dug his claws in the ground and glared at her, he had half a mind to jump right on her to make up for his loss to Griffonshade, but it wouldn't end well. But did he honestly care? He couldn't say he did.

He scoffed at Griffonshade's little title. "You've only been a warrior as long as I've been an apprentice," he spat, "you're barely even one or the other. You're nothing. You're nothing but a kit compared to anyone else." He hissed at both him and Foxpaw. The two cats that brought him the most bane.

Foxpaw drew back, her eyes hurt. Why did he say that? She hadn't done anything. All she did was stop this fight that was getting too dangerous. That was all! Then her lips drew back in an angry snarl. "What's your problem?!" Her voice was loud, angry as she glared at Kestrelpaw. "All you've done since our apprenticeship is mope and complain about how bad your life is! Are you really that selfish, to only care about you and no one else?! Compared to some cat's lives, your's is as pampered as a kittypet's!" Her tone was scathing.

"Think about other cats for a change! I can't believe a cat as self-conceited as you was ever my friend! What loyalty I had to you..." Her nose wrinkled in disgust. "I feel ashamed for even being your Clanmate!"

OOC: She's maaaaad.

ooc: she looks almost as mad as my mom is. XD

Griffinshade stood on the sidelines, watching as Kestrelpaw messed with the wrong cat. Foxpaw was a fierce fighter, and he knew it. She was a challenging battle, one that Griffinshade knew he'd struggle to defeat in the future, when she was a full grown warrior.

OOC: Heh. Kestrel. XD

Kestrelpaw turned the rest of his attention back on Foxpaw, stupid she-cat. "Who's life Foxpaw!? Who's!? Yours? His?-" at this he pointed his tail towards Griffonshade "-Redstar's? If mine is so great then no cat I know's is much different then, right? So who could there possibly be to compared to!?" If she said StarClan then he'd rip off her nose, because they, frankly, didn't count.

"I don't think so differently of you, either," he hissed at her. Ashamed to be his clanmate. To be in the same area as her was a disgrace! To breathe the same air was even worse! His fur bristled as he looked at the both of them, his anger making him almost wild.

Griffinshade padded up to Foxpaw, and whispered in her ear. "If it comes to a fight, try not to use your claws. He doesn't have much experience and I don't want any herbs wasted on this tom."
Kestrelpaw was a little brat.

Foxpaw barely heard, her mind a whirlwind of fury. "Look at all the cats that never had a choice in what they would do!" she hissed. "Look at the lives they've led! Some of them are suffering, some of them are dying! Do you see them complaining about their misfortunes?"

Her anger only grew when he confirmed his feelings towards her. "Good. I was hoping you would get the message," she said spitefully.

Griffinshade sat back and watched as fire fought fire, this was going to be fun to watch.

"And again I ask you, wise Foxpaw, who?" She'd failed to even answer his question, but just continued to talk about who couldn't do what they wished to do. Who was that? Every cat wants to be a warrior, except for the few who become medicine cats, and then they get what they want! So really, he didn't know what the cat was blabbering about.

Griffinshade sighed, this was a little boring. Time to speed things up... "Are you just going to let him talk to you like that Foxpaw? Aren't you going to stand up for yourself? Teach him a lesson." he mewed, encouraging her to fight.

Her eyes were cold. "Why don't you ask the cat you've been hanging around so much?" she hissed. And image of a large gray tabby tom flashed in her mind, his sightless blue gaze disapproving as he glared up at the sky. Foxpaw knew Cloudfrost resented the fact that he was blind. It was a hindrance to him. But he was better at hunting than half of their warriors. She'd never seen him fight before.

At Griffonshade's words she unsheathed her claws, liking the way the faint light gleamed off of them. Then she froze, horrified. She disliked Kestrelpaw, but he was her Clanmate! She couldn't use her claws against him! She quickly sheathed them, her eyes huge. Why had she almost lunged at him, her teeth and claws bared? Why had her eyes targeted his throat so easily? Did she... Did she want to kill Kestrelpaw?

OOC: *coughYESYOUDOFOXPAWcough* ... :3

"Cloudfrost?" Kestrelpaw said, growling out the tom's name. "He wanted to become a warrior and certainly became one." Hmphf. That was a pretty bad example to him. He eyes darted to Griffonshade who started to speak, Kestrelpaw almost told him that he was out of his place, but with one glance he saw that Foxpaw had indeed unsheathed her claws, perfectly ready. In a moment, they were back in.

Her eyes were wide now, as if she was taking back what she had done, but Kestrelpaw didn't care. "Sure, why not? Do it. Attack me. He told you to do so, so why don't you do it? Our great mentor deserves compliance, correct, it would be the best thing to do. Besides, what's stopping you? You seem to want to do it not too long ago, shouldn't you do what you want to if you have the chance? You shouldn't handicap yourself because of others such as Cloudfrost have such disadvantages. What would be the problem anyways? It should come natural. You've done it once, so what's so bad about doing it again?" The words slipped out of his mouth like water, his eyes narrowed as he tried to goad her into do it. Not that he would take any gain from it, but, they should always follow the word of their mentor.

Griffinshade found his eyes narrowing at Kestrelpaw's, "Remember Foxpaw, sheathed claws." he said simply, glaring at the stubborn tom.
"You should really learn how to control you tongue, you've made a big mistake Kestrelpaw." he said, knowing what was about to happen.

Foxpaw's ears were now flat against her head, her eyes angry yet fearful at the same time. She didn't want to fight! Yet, at the same time, she did want to hear Kestrelpaw scream as her claws ripped his ear, as his blood filled her mouth and clotted in her claws.... She shook her head, taking a step back. "I'm not going to disobey the warrior code!" she snapped, her voice shaky. Then her eyes filled with confusion. "What? I didn't attack you before!"

This again? Shouldn't he have gotten over something that didn't even happen by now? She felt the earth churn under her paws as her claws flashed out again. Her mind was filled with the sudden desire to fight, to kill, to honor her Clan in every way possible. Her mouth twisted into a fearsome snarl, and the blood roared in her ears as a stiff, wet breeze blew past, blowing the scent of Griffonshade's blood towards her. She took a deep breath, savoring the salty smell.

Then, as if on impulse, she took a step forwards, her claw stretching out farther than she remembered them being able to go. She liked the way it tugged slightly at the sheath, the way the light flashed over them so smoothly, making a cold, sharp light. Her teeth were bared in a twisted smile. It was like she'd forgotten her earlier words of disobeying the warrior code. Now her heart pounded with the strong urge to fight, to feel her claws rake through fur, to feel her teeth meet in the enemy's flesh as she tore mercilessly at them.

She, again, barely heard Griffonshade's warning. Who cared if she hurt Kestrelpaw? Certainly not her. Her mentor most likely didn't care. He knew she would win. He knew that the tom would most likely get hurt. So what was with all the constant warnings?

She said nothing, only crouching low as her tail, now bushy and bristled, curled into a taunting invitation for Kestrelpaw to start the fight.

Griffinshade gritted his teeth and hoped for the best, he knew that when Foxpaw became mad enough, she lost control of herself. "Remember Foxpaw, claws sheathed!" he growled one last time hoping she finally obey him as she prepared to spar.

Kestrelpaw watches Foxpaw as she crouch down, once unwilling and now so eager. "Let her do it, you want her to anyways," he grinned at Griffonshade, his face not showing care for anything that might come to him. Almost eager for it to happen.

He looked down at her as she tried to goad him with her smile, but refused. "Well, aren't you going to attack?"
