Waiting. (MEMBER ONLY)

Snow fell gently from the darkening clouds as the moon rose, just barely visible through the thick blanket of the sky around it. It cast a pale silver light on the forest below, reflecting off of the smooth bark of the now-dormant trees. There was no soft rustle of undergrowth signaling prey;only the rattle of bare branches as the wind blew.

A thick black band cut through the undergrowth, the river shimmering with moonlight and swollen from the melted frost and recent rain. From a hawk's eyes this place seemed dead, void of all life. The creature flew away, going to find prey for her hungry chicks elsewhere. But if she had taken a closer look, she could see a sleek pelt gliding through the onyx water. A cat. But what cat in their right mind would willingly swim across the raging river?

Batpaw, the huge RiverClan apprentice, would. He pulled himself out of the river on the ThunderClan side of the border, his golden eyes gleaming. "Leafpaw?"he called softly, waving his tail. He quickly found a bramble bush next to the river that he could hide in, in case any patrols came while he waited.

Leafpaw stepped out from her hiden spot in the trees. She stopped when she fully emerged and lifted her ears before looking around quickly. When she saw nor heard anyone, she quickly rushed over to the bush Batpaw was hidden in, and hid there herself, laying next to him. She looked over at the larger cat, and felt, just for a second, like a kit. He was huge! And she was small in comparision.

Batpaw purred and pressed himself closer to Leafpaw. "Did you have any trouble getting away?"he asked, pricking his ears for sounds of pursuit.

"No," Leapfaw said smoothly, "I only had to give Rockpaw a good excuse." She pressed herself against Batpaw and purred. She wanted to stay with him for moons and moons and moons. She wanted almost nothing else.
